Idaho Falls, ID, September 19, 2013: Idaho Governor Butch Otter today announced the appointment of Idaho Falls adjunct professor, consultant, community leader and mayoral candidate Rebecca Casper to the Leadership in Nuclear Energy (LINE) Commission 2.0 which is tasked with enhancing the mission of the Idaho National Laboratory and securing Idaho’s future with respect to nuclear energy.
Casper released the following statement with respect to her appointment:
“I appreciate the confidence expressed in me by the Governor and by Line 2.0 Chairman Jeff Sayer. I'm eager to be a part of the effort to make the case for an expanded nuclear presence in Idaho, be it as a part of INL or elsewhere in our state.”
“In the current political climate, it is clear the federal government will not invest nuclear energy resources where it is not welcome. In this case “welcome” means there is a demonstrated and enthusiastic partnership between the federal, state, and local governments. I will insure that Idaho Falls’ support for the INL is abundantly evident.”
“The INL’s designation as the lead nuclear laboratory in the United States gives Eastern Idaho worldwide prominence. This is no small thing and we owe nothing less than our very best efforts to preserve and enhance its nuclear future.”
“I anticipate great things to emerge from the LINE 2.0 Commission.“
